Preparation time:
approx. 40 minutes
Ingredients
Basic dough
- 40 g (1/4 cup) soft butter
- 40 g (1/4 cup) sugar
- 8 g (1 tbsp) bourbon vanilla sugar
- 40 g (1/3 cup) wheat flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 egg (small or medium size)
Cake variation
- Chocolate cake: 25 g (1/8 cup) chocolate chips
- Lemon cake: 1 tsp untreated lemon zest and 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Marble cake: 1 heaped tsp cocoa powder and 1 tbsp milk
Also
- butter for greasing
- wheat flour for dusting
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 180 °C top and bottom heat (160 °C fan). Grease the ZWILLING FRESH & SAVE Glass Box S with butter and dust with flour. Tap off any excess flour.
For the basic dough, place all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix with a hand mixer fitted with a whisk until smooth. Add the ingredients for a cake variation as desired.
For the chocolate cake, stir in the chocolate chips. For the lemon version, stir in lemon zest and juice. For the marble cake, divide the dough in half, stir the cocoa powder into one half, pour both doughs into the glass box one after the other and pull a fork through the dough several times to create a nice marbling.
Bake the cake on the rack on the middle shelf for about 25-30 minutes. After 10 minutes, score lengthwise with a pointed knife so that the cake rises evenly. After 25 minutes, use a wooden stick to check whether the cake is baked through. Then remove and leave to cool in the box on a cooling rack.
Decorate the cooled cake as desired.
