For
approx. 20 brownies
Preparation time:
approx. 45 minutes
Ingredients
Brownies
- 125 g (3/4 cup) dark chocolate (min. 60 %)
- 125 g (1/2 cup) butter
- 2 eggs
- 125 g (2/3 cup) sugar
- ½ tsp ground vanilla or vanilla extract
- 125 g (7/8 cup) wheat flour
- 1 level tsp baking powder
- 1 heaped tsp gingerbread spice
Also
- butter for greasing
- icing sugar for dusting
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 180 °C top and bottom heat (160 °C fan). Lightly grease the ZWILLING FRESH & SAVE Fridge Box with butter and line the base with baking parchment.
Break the dark chocolate into pieces and melt together with the butter in a bowl in a hot water bath.
Using a food processor or hand mixer, beat the eggs, sugar and vanilla until creamy. First stir a third of the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the eggs. Then carefully fold the entire chocolate and egg mixture into the remaining chocolate and butter mixture.
Mix the flour, baking powder and gingerbread spice and sift onto the mixture. Gently fold in with a spatula until a homogeneous batter is formed. Pour the batter into the prepared Fridge Box.
Bake in the oven on the rack on the middle shelf for about 25 minutes, the brownies should still be slightly moist inside. Remove, leave to cool completely in the baking dish and only then cut into pieces. Serve dusted with icing sugar.
Tip
Fancy vegan brownies? No problem. Simply replace the butter and chocolate with vegan alternatives. Replace the eggs with 100 g vegetable yoghurt alternative and mix 1 tsp baking soda into the flour instead of baking powder.
Product tip
The FRESH & SAVE Fridge Box made of glass can do much more than just store cold cuts in the fridge. As it is ovenproof up to 180 °C without the lid, it can also be used as a baking dish – as in this recipe, for example. It is also ideal for preparing gratins or desserts.
