ZWILLING Tanrei 10 cm Paring knife
Description
The TANREI Paring knife from ZWILLING opens up a whole new dimension of peeling, cutting and paring. That’s because it brings together Japanese craftsmanship and the German art of engineering in a blade just 10cm long, creating a cutting tool that is unparalleled in terms of its hardness and sharpness as well as in its unique damask design.
Each TANREI Paring knife has its own blade pattern. A damask design runs continuously from the tip to the handle joint. Each knife was made in dozens of hand movements and over many hours of work in Japan according to traditional craftsmanship to create its outstanding properties. The Japanese knife not only looks exceptionally good thanks to its damask pattern – it’s what’s on the inside that counts too: 63 HRC represents a particularly high degree of hardness, and one rarely achieved by a kitchen knife. 100 layers of premium steel and an FC 63 core combine to create the 10cm long, ultra-hard yet flexible blade. The final touch is a triple-riveted, rounded handle with a high-quality elegant micarta scales.
So you can peel fruits and vegetables with a truly premium knife. A knife sharpened in Japan by master craftsmen for a quality that will take your sophisticated cuisine to an even higher level.

ZWILLING TANREI knife
A new dimension, made possible by our equally new premium steel. ZWILLING developed this steel and used it for the first time in the new TANREI knife series. 100 layers in Damascus design encase the FC 63 core and guarantee the superior hardness and edge retention of all the knives in the series. Japanese knives and ZWILLING become TANREI – a combination with a tradition and a new chapter in the success story.
Damask design – every knife is special
It is often seen on Japanese knives and always causes a buzz: the damask pattern. A graining of the blades, beautiful and also slightly mystical marks which are much like a kind of fingerprint for a knife. Because no two damask patterns are alike, which also makes your TANREI knife something very special.v
Honed by hand, from Seki, Japan
If you are looking for Japanese knives at ZWILLING, you will definitely find Japanese knives. These knives from the TANREI series were made in the Japanese knife city of Seki. This is where they were manufactured by highly qualified knife specialists following their traditional craft and honed by hand.
The paring knife – something special for your kitchen
The paring knife is not an all-rounder in contrast to the chef's knife or Santoku knife. But it does a great job of what it does! The Paring knife is a genuine specialist for professional prepping of many types of fruit and vegetables. It pares peel reliably, removing just a wafer-thin layer and gently revealing the tasty fruit.
