ZWILLING Tanrei 18 cm Santoku
Description
The Santoku knife from the ZWILLING TANREI series is a genuine original, a knife made in Japan. Made in the Japanese knife-making city of Seki, this Santoku knife is the result of traditional oriental craftsmanship combined with German engineering skills.
The ultra-sharp Honbazuke honing is particularly worthy of note. The blade was hand-ground in Seki by true masters of their craft and is the result of high-precision skilled work. With our brand new premium steel as the middle layer, 101 layers of steel were embossed, resulting in a blade that is in a class of its own: a hardness of 63 HRC, great initial sharpness and edge retention and at the same time maximum flexibility for cutting, roll-chopping and mincing.
A composition that takes the user to our new dimension of damascus steel in terms of hardness, edge retention and sharpness. Three virtues of a premium knife, brought to unity in this work of Japanese forging craft.

ZWILLING TANREI knife
A new dimension, made possible by our equally new premium steel. ZWILLING developed this steel and used it for the first time in the new TANREI knife series. 100 layers in Damascus design encase the FC 63 core and guarantee the superior hardness and edge retention of all the knives in the series. Japanese knives and ZWILLING become TANREI – a combination with a tradition and a new chapter in the success story.
Santoku – the knife with the three virtues
Did you know? Santoku knives are Japanese knives that also have a Japanese word in their name. Santoku means "three virtues", which refers to the foods which you can cut with the knife: meat, fish and vegetables.
All-rounders in the kitchen are always a good thing
Thanks to its "three virtues", the Santoku knife is suitable for virtually anything you want to cut. In other words, the Santoku knife is the all-rounder in the ZWILLING TANREI series, and something you will not want to be without in any well-equipped kitchen.
Sharp, hard, reliable
This high-quality premium knife from the TANREI series is made in Japan, a product of traditional handicraft. It is made of our new premium steel, which makes the knife ultra-hard, while its Honbazuke honing allows for even the finest of cuts. A knife you can depend on!
