Henckels CLASSIC 5-inch Hollow Edge Santoku Knife is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 176.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't feel like a value knife This little santoku could be your go-to for smaller fruits and veggies. With its 5" blade, it's easier to handle and the "dimples" help keep food from thinking to the blade. I have several family members that this is the main knife they use because an 8" chef is simply too big. Classic knives are as close as you can get to the knives made in Germany, at a more affordable price. They are forged from German steel and are made in Spain. The three rivet handle means they're perfectly weight, balanced and extremely durable. Guaranteed to last a lifetime!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very handy This knife is sharp and easy to handle. Chops and slices raw veggies beautifully. I will buy the chef’s knife as well, as my older knives are not working like this. Also like that it’s NOT made in china.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent knife at a great price point... I've owned a Zwilling Four Star set for 30 years and decided to get a few Santoku knives to compliment. This knife is well made and reasonably priced. Happy with purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from sharp but rust in a short time was pleased with the sharpness of the knife but started noticing rust spots on the blade after just a month of use, and handle is not that comfort, and the knife is a little bit heavy; i contacted the team but was told to clean the rust by baking soda, it may solve the problem but i am just disappointed, i can't tell difference between this knife and other cheaper ones

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic Asian knife! A Classic 7" Hollow Edge Santoku knife is for an Asian chef knife. It is perfect for a cook who rather likes chopping motion than rocking and gliding knife, this knife is great for mincing, dicing and chopping herbs. It looks great, it feels great in my hand, and it cuts great! This is durable, fully forged construction blade that provides balance and Spanish-made knife. This 7" Asian style Santoku knife is excellent in cutting large food, meat, vegetables and fruits. It is dishwasher safe. Perfect gifting for young chef.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 7” Santoku! Right out of the package, this thing is very sharp! Be very careful when removing it from the package. That being said, it’s a great knife that maintains its edge and has a nice satin finish. Food doesn’t stick to the blade making cutting veggies and meats easier. The knife has a full tang and the handle has a nice and comfortable grip. The blade doesn’t wobble and had a nice hefty feel to it. Over all, great knife. I’d recommend this to anyone!

Does this have grantons on both sides? If not, are grantons on the left or right? From the picture I would think left, but wanted to check

Asked by: Grant

Is this knife made with the steel alloy X 50 CR MO V-15 ? I bought a 5 inch Henckels santoku several years ago, model number 31170-140, and it was marked with that alloy. This model (31170-141) does not appear to be marked with any alloy number.

Asked by: PhilD
Yes, all our Classic knives are made with the X 50 CR MO V-15 steel alloy.

What's the right way to sharpen this knife? With a 15 degree or 20 degree sharpener?

Asked by: Fernborough
Santoku knives, as well as other Asian blade styles, should be sharpened at 10-12 degrees per side.
