La Cocotte from STAUB
Cast iron cookware has been used for many centuries, among other reasons, for its excellent energy efficiency. The material is known for its even heat conduction and retention, which means that fried dishes develop many roasting aromas. Chilled food also benefits from the temperature retention properties, as it stays cool for several hours and can be served without any problem at garden parties.

With its flat lid, the STAUB cocotte closes tightly. Inside, the special drip structure ensures effective liquid distribution across the lid.
Protective enamel coating
The inside of the cocotte is coated with a matt black enamel with a rough structure. It is scratch-resistant and acid-resistant and therefore ensures a long service life for the cookware.
Traditional craftsmanship

I love this size and I love this shape especially for roasting chickens or baking a boule of sourdough bread. You have enough room to add all of your vegetables in with the chicken, which is a huge plus. For baking bread the cast iron is perfect because it conducts heat so well, and retains the heat. The spikes under the lid collect moisture and self-baste whatever dish you are baking or roasting in the oven, all while it is cooking, so almost like you have an extra hand! You get to take all the credit though! Bread does come out perfect when baked in a staub and your chickens will come out juicy and golden brown.

Fall off the bone
The product is very well made and delivers exactly what it proposes. The vegetables are cooked to perfection and can be browned in the same pan. The poultry and pork will fall off the bone when cooked “low and slow”. It even made an excellent oval peasant bread. You could say that the weight is an issue but its to be expected with this kind of product. It’s the kind of product that will last a lifetime and can be handed down through generations. I purchased mine with a visual imperfection that I am still trying to find. I would not have purchased it at regular full price which is why I gave the high value rating on my imperfect version.

nice cast iron pot
So many dutch ovens are round. I really like the oval design on this one. The natural properties of cast iron make it heat very evenly and hold temperature for a long time. The enamel coating means no seasoning and easy cleanup. The black matte interior gives great browning and the braising spikes on the lid keep my food moist. I like doing a whole chicken in here but even more i like to do a nice long braise in pieces. The rooster knob is available separately but comes with this model......bonus. The exterior enamel color is super attractive and is so much easier to clean than regular cast iron.

Like the OVAL better than round Cocotte
This oval had been in my bucket lust for a long time.. started out with 4 Qt Round on sale. When I found this oval on sale I jumped at it & am glad I did. I use it more often, it holds more & bigger variety of cuts of meat as well. Staub makes a top quality product & I love that with the black interior I’m not obsessing over the clean up like I would be with a Le C… the spikes on the lid really do distribute the moisture back into your meal as a bonus. Very happy with all my Staub pieces & my collection is growing! When my non stick old pots/pans wear out I’ll never need to replace them as I now how THE best in Staub.

Great for all cooking needs!
Staub cast iron have variety of colors to choose from, colorful enamel outside adds flare to your kitchen and table. Graphite is such a neutral blend.
Staub cast iron pots and pan saves you another dish, you can serve your delicious food straight to your table. It is a recommendation to use a trivet either wood magnetic trivet or cast iron to protect my table from direct heat.
The innovative lid features tiny spikes on the interior that continually release condensed liquid back onto the food, yielding moist, flavorful results. It is durability, it is perfect for day-to-day use. This cast iron requires no seasoning and ready to use for daily cooking.

Small, but terribly great!
Cooking can be challenging however with this Staub cast iron 1.25qt. cocotte makes cooking fun, exciting, and feels wonderful! Despite of size it is excellent for single-serve soup pot, portion deep-frying, braising meat, cooking grain and past such as mac and cheese, and sauces. The innovative lid features tiny spikes on the interior that continually release condensed liquid back onto the food, yielding moist, flavorful results.
It is dishwasher safe and oven safe. Smooth enamel bottom works on all stovetops, including gas, electric, glass, ceramic, induction, and halogen.

Is the white color a bright white or an off white? And does the white become discolored from the stove or oven heat?
Staub White on cast iron is brighter than off-white. It is slightly warmer and more muted than our ceramic white, which is a true, bright white. The enamel can become discolored if scorched or not cleaned/cared for properly.
