INGREDIENTS

  • 200 gr puff pastry
  • 2 tbsp stewed apple
  • 6 apples, Granny Smith
  • 2 tbsp of caster sugar, mixed with some ground cinnamon
  • 40 gr butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten
  • HOW TO MAKE IT (45 Mins.)

    1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C/180 °C fan.

    2. Roll the puff pastry out on a clean work surface to a large sheet (3 mm thick). Using the pie dish as a measure, cut out a circle that is approx. 5 cm wider than the dish. Transfer the pastry into the pie dish, crimping the edge with a fork. Chill in the fridge for at least 10 minutes.

    3. Cut the apples into even, thin slices (approx. 2 mm).

    4. Remove the pastry from the fridge and spread the stewed apple all over the base of the pastry, all over the base of the pastry, but not on the side.

    5. Place the apple slices onto the pastry, overlapping each other. Start from the outside with the largest slices and work inward, placing the smallest pieces in the center.

    6. Sprinkle the caster sugar over the apples and dot with the cubed butter. Brush the edge with the beaten egg and bake in the oven for about 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
