Cookware care instructions

STAUB and BALLARINI cookware are of high quality. So that you can enjoy them for a long time, we have put together some care instructions for you.

How do you prepare STAUB for the first time?

Before first use: once unwrapped, remove any labels that may be attached to your product. Wash your product in soapy water and rinse under the hot tap. Wipe with a clean cloth and leave it to dry upside down. Your STAUB product is now ready to use.

BEFORE FIRST USE

After unwrapping, remove any labels that may be attached to your product. Rinse the item with warm water and let it air dry. Your product is now ready for use!

Permitted / compatible heat sources

• Your STAUB cast iron product can be used with the following heat sources: ovens, electric, gas, radiant, induction and halogen.

• Choose a heat source that matches the dimensions of the base of your cookware product.

• If using an induction cooktop, preheat your cookware on a low temperature for 5 minutes. You can then increase to full heat. Any cooktop “booster” functions should be used with caution.

• You can also put your STAUB product in the oven* (except for those with a wooden or silicone handle).

* Maximum temperature 250°C/500°F (200°C/400°F with silicone handles and 220°C/440°F with glass lids).

Start cooking

• Heat enameled cast iron products slowly and never heat them up when empty. Always add a drop of cooking oil to prevent damage from overheating.

• For grills, use the same method as above: preheating your cookware on low for 5 minutes and then brushing oil over the ribs or your food before grilling.

Warning

• Your STAUB cast iron product including handles and lid knobs can get very hot! To avoid burns, always use with thermal insulated protections (e.g., oven gloves, STAUB silicone handles, etc.).

• Do not place your cookware on unprotected surfaces while it’s still hot. We recommend using a trivet or potholder. Do not put plastic underneath your hot product as this could cause the plastic to melt.

• Not suitable for use in a microwave oven.

• For induction cooktops, glass ceramic surfaces, or any other fragile surface, make sure you lift rather than slide your STAUB product to avoid damaging the cooking surface.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND CARE INSTRUCTION

General information

• We recommend wooden or silicone kitchen tools.

• STAUB products can be stacked. Place a protective layer between products to avoid scratches.

• We recommend that you brush your STAUB cast iron product at regular intervals with

cooking oil and slowly heat it on the stove and remove excess oil with a kitchen paper. This forms a protective film that improves the non-stick properties.

• STAUB cast iron products can be used on the grill or BBQ.

Care instruction

• Always let your STAUB product cool down before cleaning. Running cold water over a hot pot/pan can potentially cause cracks or breakage due to the sudden change in temperature.

• Clean the pot/pan with warm water, liquid dish soap and a soft sponge or brush.

• If food remains stuck in the pot/pan, it is advisable to soak it in warm water and dish soap, overnight if necessary.

• If still not completely clean, we recommend soaking the pot/pan in boiling water with two or three spoons of baking soda for a few minutes.

• Do not use oven cleaners, metal brushes, or scouring pads that can permanently damage the cookware.

• Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth and always make sure it is completely dry

Storage

• You can wash your product in the dishwasher (except cookware with wooden

handles), but regular dishwasher use is not recommended. Modern dishwasher detergents may damage your product with regular use.

• Knobs and handles may gradually loosen over time. Check from time to time and tighten if necessary.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF BALLARINI PRODUCTS

Once you have unpacked the product, please remove all labels and stickers and rinse the product by hand first. Then, pour a little water into the pan or pot and bring it to a boil. Then, leave the product to cool and dry it carefully. Then, rub the non-stick inside with cooking oil or grease.

TIPS FOR USE

  1. The cooking zone should correspond to the size of the pan or pot base. Avoid overcooking and cook your food at moderate heat.
  2. Do not heat the empty cookware or leave it unattended on the hob.
  3. Never let fatty foods burn.
  4. Allow dishes to cool before cleaning.
  5. Avoid handles that could scratch or damage the non-stick coating. Do not use any metal or sharp-edged objects, and do not cut into the cookware with a knife so that you do not impair the performance of your cookware. When using the cookware on glass ceramic, induction and halogen hobs, avoid pulling or pushing the cookware on the hob, as this can cause scratches. Before frying or cooking, ensure the base of the cookware and the hob are clean.
  6. When using the cookware on glass ceramic, induction and halogen hobs, it is essential to avoid pulling or pushing the cookware on the hob, as this can cause scratches.
  7. Before frying or cooking, ensure the base of the cookware and the hob are clean. If aluminum residue is visible on the hob when cooking on a glass ceramic hob, please remove it immediately with a suitable glass ceramic cleaner.
  8. Non-stick pans can be easily cleaned by hand with soft, non-scratching dishwashing sponges. Do not use strong and/or aggressive chemical cleaners, but liquid dishwashing detergents. We always recommend cleaning the pan by hand. If you are using a dishwasher, use liquid dishwashing detergent here and eco-wash cycles at low temperatures. This protects your product and the environment.
  9. Store the dishes carefully and avoid scratching the non-stick coating to ensure a long service life. We recommend using a BALLARINI pan protector.

TIP - ADDING OIL AND FAT

BALLARINI non-stick pans are ideal for frying with little or no fat. However, you should not completely avoid using fat. On the one hand, the pores of meat close faster in hot fat, so the meat remains juicier. Secondly, fats are valuable flavour carriers and indispensable in gourmet cuisine. Furthermore, fats help to break down the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K so that they can be absorbed and processed by the body.

TIP - GADGETS

Avoid pointed and sharp utensils. Use kitchen utensils made of wood, silicone or plastic and do not cut directly in the pan or pot.

As some BALLARINI products are relatively resistant to using rounded, metal kitchen utensils, please carefully read the instructions for your pan or pot.

APPLICATION THERMOPOINT

When the colour changes from green to red, the right temperature has been reached to place the food in the pan. The pan can be easily cleaned or placed on the table when the colour changes from red to green. This not only saves energy but also ensures perfect frying results.

Never expose the metal flame guard of the "Thermopoint" temperature indicator directly to the flame of gas stoves, direct sunlight or neon light. Never use an iron sponge, abrasive cleaners, solvents or chemical products such as acid or bleach to clean the flame protection.

Caution: The cookware is already hot during the heating phase, even if the Thermopoint is still dark green.
