ZWILLING – one of the oldest brands in the world

When knifemaker Peter Henckels had the twin trademark registered with the Cutlers’ Guild of Solingen in 1731, he laid the Foundation for what would become one of the world’s oldest brands. His commitment to making high-quality, innovative cutlery has endured through the centuries. What has changed, however, is the range of products. In addition to knives and scissors, our product portfolio includes cookware, cutlery, small electrical appliances, vacuum storage systems, grills, and grill accessories. Despite the diversity of the product range, all brands share a common mission: to provide people worldwide with high-quality products that combine quality and durability with a sense of responsibility towards the social and natural environment.

Made in Solingen, at home in the world

We didn't invent the knife, but we have perfected it. We have made knives in Solingen since 1731 and put our passion for sharpness into every single knife. We aim to combine tradition with innovation and deliver only excellent quality. Join us in Solingen and take a look inside our production facility.

The path of a ZWILLING knife

Knife with a profile

Knife blanks are forged from a single piece of steel and pre-treated. They are then wet ground under constant quality control until the desired blade geometry and profile are achieved.

Extreme precision for high sharpness

The sharpening and fine grinding of knives, known as honing and polishing, is increasingly being carried out by robots at our Solingen production site. The company's process development department programs the robots and develops special measuring and laser technology.

Symbiosis of fire and ice

We have optimized the hardening of knives by implementing a new ice-hardening process. The result: our FRIODUR blades. During the process, the steel is first heated and then cooled to extreme temperatures. Ice hardening removes the stress from the material, resulting in a consistently hard blade that has excellent elasticity and is corrosion-resistant.

From the city of blades into the world

Lots of space for lots of quality: Our high-bay warehouse in Solingen comprises 4,000 pallet spaces, while the small parts warehouse holds 25,000 further storage locations. Storage and retrieval are fully automated to ensure everything finds its correct place. Our electronic warehouse management system assigns a storage location to each pallet and bin. Our products are ready to be shipped all over the world!

Staying sharp

Even premium knives become dull over time and require regular resharpening to keep them performing at their best. ZWILLING offers its own sharpening service. This service involves grinding the knives with a fine abrasive belt and then polishing them. Once the grinding process is complete, we test for sharpness and clean the blades with powdered marble.

DEMEYERE – pioneers of induction

It all started with cookie tins and car body components. That was in 1908, and since then, we have continued to perfect metalworking. Today, we are known for our high-quality stainless steel cookware. As a pioneer in induction technology, DEMEYERE is synonymous with constant innovation. For example, we launched pans and woks with a safety system that prevents overheating on induction hobs. We also developed the Silvinox process, an electrochemical surface treatment for matte-polished cookware that makes stainless steel impervious to fingerprints, cleaning agents, and acidic foods. The products retain their silvery-white appearance even after years of use.

Production with a love for details

Layer by layer to perfection

It all starts with the base. To increase thermal conductivity, a layer of copper is hermetically sealed within the stainless steel base. Some product lines contain silver to fuse together the various materials and alloys that make up the sandwich base. The result: ideal temperature distribution and low energy consumption.

A body of quality

With the base complete, it's now time for the actual body of the pot. It is formed from a thin stainless steel disc during the stamping process. Continuous quality controls ensure that you always hold a perfectly finished product in your hands.

Recycle more, waste less

We collect the offcuts from the die-cutting process in containers. It is then recycled and fed back into production. Stainless steel can be recycled several times without any loss of quality, enabling us to use fewer valuable resources and produce more sustainably.

Say “bye” to plastic

In recent years, we have changed our product and transport packaging and eliminated the use of plastic. Our packaging is now primarily made of FSC®-certified paper or cardboard.

BALLARINI – the epitome of la cucina italiana

BALLARINI was founded in 1889 in the northern Italian town of Rivarolo Mantovano. Today, it is loved all over the world for its aluminum cookware. Every single product is an expression of our long-standing tradition, our quest for constant innovation, and the epitome of the Italian "stile di vita."

Our "passione" is not only for the cucina italiana, but also for nature. BALLARINI's environmental management system has been certified to DIN EN ISO 14001 since 2004, and the company has continually reduced its ecological footprint. Today, we cover around 13 percent of our electricity requirements using self-generated solar power. Most of the aluminum waste is also recovered and returned to the production process.

Made with passione. Made for you.

Top quality is no coincidence

When you buy a BALLARINI product, you want it to be flawless. To ensure this, we apply only the highest quality standards. We carry out quality controls at each production stage, ensuring that every product bearing the BALLARINI label meets your – and our – highest standards.

Excellent coatings, smartly produced

Another BALLARINI specialty is its dry application technology, in which powder coating enhances the pans' surface. To maximize the use of resources, surplus powder is collected and reused.

An Italian wedding

The aluminum body is permanently connected to the punched stainless steel sheet during stamping. The patented base design of the aluminum pans makes them ideal for use on induction and other types of stoves, enhancing their energy efficiency during cooking.

Every drop is valuable

BALLARINI is careful to use water sparingly in all production steps, and we have thoroughly modernized our wastewater management in recent years. The process water is purified and treated in several stages, separating pollutants. An exemplary filtration system subsequently improves the water quality. Most of the process water is reused in production, significantly reducing fresh water consumption.

At home, all over the world

Our pots and pans are stored in the distribution warehouses, ready for export. These ambassadors of the Cucina Italiana inspire people worldwide with quality and Italian joie de vivre.
