PREP TIME: 30 MIN.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ciabatta
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • extra virgin olive oil for drizzling and frying
  • salt, pepper

Toppings

  • cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, basil
  • parma ham, rocket
  • milanese salami, taleggio or fontina, pickled, dried tomato

HOW TO MAKE IT

  1. Cut the ciabatta into slices approx. 1 cm thick. Peel the garlic and cut the cloves in half.
  2. Pour a generous dash of olive oil into a pan, e.g. BALLARINI Torre 28 cm, and heat up. Drizzle one side of the ciabatta slices with a little olive oil.
  3. Place the ciabatta slices in the pan with the oiled side facing up and toast briefly until golden brown and crispy. Then turn them over. Be careful not to burn the bread slices when toasting.
  4. When the bread slices are finished toasting, remove them from the pan. Rub the garlic on one cut surface and season with freshly ground salt and pepper.
  5. Top the crostinis to your heart's content and taste.
  6. The simple classic is tomatoes, mozzarella and basil. A hearty version with nutty rocket and strong Parma ham or a mixture with hearty Milanese salami, strong cheese such as Taleggio or Fontina and pickled, dried tomato strips.

Tip

Other topping ideas include Gorgonzola with fried mushrooms or a spread of finely chopped anchovies, olives and capers.

Info

Thanks to the excellent heat conductivity of ceramic-coated pans, such as BALLARINI Torre, the slices of bread toast evenly.
