PREP TIME: 40 MIN.

INGREDIENTS

  • 100 g/3.5 oz raw ham
  • 1 shallot
  • 75 g/2.5 oz Gruyère or Emmental cheese in one piece
  • 2 tbsp crème fraîche
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • salt, pepper
  • 1 packet of puff pastry (approx. 280 g/10 oz, from the chiller cabinet)
  • 1 egg

HOW TO MAKE IT

  1. Cut the ham into small cubes. Peel and finely chop the shallot. Place both in a bowl. Grate the cheese directly into the bowl using a grater, e.g. ZWILLING Pro Medium Grater. Mix everything with the crème fraîche and mustard. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Preheat the oven to 200 °C top/bottom heat (180 °C fan). Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  3. Unroll the puff pastry, cut in half lengthways and cut into even rectangles and then into triangles. Place a good teaspoon of the filling on the wide side of each triangle and roll up towards the tip. Place on the tray, bending slightly.
  4. Whisk the egg and brush the croissants with it. Place the tray on the middle shelf of the oven and bake the croissants for approx. 15-20 minutes, depending on their size, until golden brown.
  5. Remove the croissants and leave to cool slightly. Enjoy lukewarm or cold as a snack.

Tip

For a slightly milder flavor, simply use cooked ham.

Info

The innovative two-way grating technology of the ZWILLING Pro Medium Grater enables faster and more effortless grating, as the grating teeth are sharpened on both sides and can therefore be used in both directions.
