GENERAL QUESTIONS
The lifecycle of vacuum-sealed food depends on many factors, including: the initial germ count of the food, adherence to the correct storage and cooling conditions, and individual hygiene practices followed during preparation and vacuum sealing. The ZWILLING Culinary World app calculates the estimated longevity of the food based on the type of food stored (e.g. fresh beef or fresh vegetables) and the storage location (e.g. fridge, freezer, or pantry). Keep in mind, the calculated longevity is an estimated guideline.
Food should be allowed to cool at least to room temperature before vacuum sealing. Vacuum sealing warm food is generally not recommended. The FRESH & SAVE products do not offer insulation and thus will not keep food warm.
All the components used in the production of FRESH & SAVE products are food-grade and checked for harmful substances.
ZWILLING offers a 2-year warranty on FRESH & SAVE pump and containers.
Vacuum sealing is not a replacement for the correct freezing, cooling, or storage of food. Depending on the food type, the standard storage practices generally recommended should be followed.
Vacuum sealing extracts air that surrounds food in a container, thereby markedly reducing the oxygen content of the container and delaying oxidization and aerobic processes. This results in food spoiling more slowly. Moreover, the minimal amount of air that is still present after vacuum sealing is unable to transport moisture to the surrounding environment, helping to prevent freezer burn and preserve flavours for longer.
The specially designed container lid also serves as a vacuum seal indicator. If the lid is sunken, a vacuum exists inside the container. If the lid is slightly raised, the vacuum should be refreshed. It is recommended that you check the vacuum from time to time, particularly when storing food long term.
The less often that a food comes in contact with air, the longer it will remain fresh. When regularly opening a container or bag, it should be vacuum sealed again as quickly as possible after opening.
VACUUM PUMP
The pump has been specially designed for the FRESH & SAVE vacuum system. This is the only way to guarantee optimal vacuum sealing results.
No.
Both the vacuum pump and the battery are covered by a 2-year warranty.
No. The pump is powered by a built-in battery that can be charged using the included USB cable.
Avoid absorbing liquids into the pump. Stop the vacuum sealing process immediately if you notice any liquids being sucked towards the pump. If liquid does accidentally enter the pump, turn the pump off and shake it lightly. If you have sucked in so much liquid that you are unable to turn the pump on again, proceed as follows: lightly shake the pump to clear the liquid. Do not turn it on its head! Ensure that the pump and charging station are completely dry. Then connect the pump to the charging station for 1 second to reset it. Separate the pump from the charging station and press the ON/OFF button. If the pump continues to turn itself off, repeat this process.
No. Due to the built-in battery, the pump cannot be cleaned in the dishwasher. For light cleaning, simply wipe the vacuum pump with a damp cloth. The silicone attachment can be removed and cleaned under running water.
VACUUM CONTAINERS
The containers are made for long-term contact with food and are checked for food safety and harmful substances.
Yes.
No, the plastic containers are not suitable for use in the oven. The container and lid are temperature resistant up to 65°C (149°F).
All the containers and lids may be used in the microwave. However, it is important that you first release the vacuum seal from the containers.
They are currently available only in white.
It is an exceptionally temperature-resistant glass that withstands both hot and cold temperatures. It is shockproof but not breakproof.
No.
No, to prevent thermal shock, the containers should not be moved directly from the cold into heat.
The borosilicate glass is temperature resistant up to 180°C (350°F), which means the glass containers can be cleaned at very high temperatures in the dishwasher.
No.
Foods with intense colouring, such as beet or turmeric, may leave behind traces of colour on the plastic.
Generally, yes. However, it is possible that, for example, strong flavoured marinades may leave behind traces of odour. These can be eliminated by cleaning with vinegar and then washing again by hand or in the dishwasher.
Yes, it is advisable to leave about ½ inch to 1 inch of space at the top of the container to allow the lid to sit properly and to prevent the container contents from coming into contact with the valve.
VACUUM BOWLS
Yes, they are dishwasher-safe. However, it is recommended to dry them immediately after washing to avoid water spots or discolouration.
Yes, the stainless steel bowls are heat-resistant and perfectly suitable for hot food and liquids. Caution: Stainless steel bowls can become hot quickly when in contact with hot food or near heat sources—risk of burns! Always use potholders or heat-resistant gloves.
No, because metal reflects microwave radiation, which can cause sparking or damage to the appliance.
Light discolouration may occur due to acidic foods, high heat, or insufficient drying. However, this does not affect functionality.
High-quality stainless steel is rust-resistant. Minimal surface rust may occur if the bowl is damaged or improperly cared for. Household remedies such as vinegar, lemon juice, or baking soda can be used to remove surface rust.
• We recommend using silicone-coated kitchen utensils to avoid scratches on delicate surfaces. Our ZWILLING Pro series offers a comprehensive selection of high-quality silicone-coated kitchen tools for this purpose. • Use mild detergents and soft sponges. • Dry the bowls after washing to prevent water spots.
Make sure to separate stainless steel bowls of the same size with a cloth or pan protector to avoid scratches. If the bowls become wedged together, gently separate them by lightly twisting and using quick movements.
Yes, they are cold-resistant and can be easily used in the freezer.
The FRESH & SAVE bowls were designed without silicone bottoms to maintain their elegant and sleek design while optimising recyclability. By omitting silicone, the stainless steel remains fully recyclable, simplifying the material separation process. The bowls are particularly easy to care for and dishwasher-safe, preventing the accumulation of dirt and moisture. Additionally, the absence of silicone bottoms contributes to their durability, as no porous silicone parts can detach.
To ensure safe stirring and scraping in our bowls, we offer our versatile accessory set. The included silicone mat not only serves as a non-slip base but can also be used as sustainable baking paper. The set is further complemented by three high-quality grating inserts with 2-way grating technology and an adaptive splash guard, which reduces the splashing of dough from the F&S bowls and STAUB CERAMIQUE bowls.
The bowls are microwave-safe, but without a lid.
Yes, the STAUB CERAMIQUE bowls are oven-safe up to 300°C and can be used for freezing and in the dishwasher.
• Avoid sudden temperature changes. • Clean the bowls with mild dish soap and dry them carefully.

Food Storage Containers CUBE
Yes, you can use the Fresh & Save vacuum pump to create a vacuum seal on CUBE containers.
No, the containers can be used without vacuum sealing because the lids are airtight and keep food fresh even without it.
Yes. However, it is possible that very strongly flavoured foods will leave behind traces of an odour. This can be eliminated by cleaning with vinegar and then washing again by hand or in the dishwasher.
Yes, the containers need about 1 inch of empty space from the top (indicator line) to allow the lid to sit properly and prevent the contents from coming in contact with the vacuum valve.
Powdery foods can get stuck on the sealing area and hinder vacuum sealing. Be sure to clean the entire sealing area thoroughly before sealing the containers. To best protect against this, we recommend you use the vacuum-sealing diffusers.
The diffuser minimizes the movement of powdery foods when vacuum sealing so that they do not become stuck on the sealing area and thus obstruct a full seal. Attach the diffuser to the underside of the vacuum valve.
The diffuser attaches to the underside of the container vacuum valve.
The insert scoop offers 3 scoop sizes: teaspoon (5 ml), tablespoon (15 ml), and pinch.
No, liquids cannot be stored in the CUBE boxes - for this we recommend the vacuum boxes from our FRESH & SAVE range.
The containers are great for keeping out household pests as the lids are airtight both with and without vacuum sealing.
Yes, the coloured covers not only serve as a colourful accent in the kitchen and a helpful organizational tool, but they also protect light-sensitive foods such as coffee or tea from sunlight.
Yes, all Cube containers are dishwasher safe. Be sure to separate the silicone seal and valve from the lid before placing them in the dishwasher.
Colored covers are available for all 4 sizes in the Cube S container range.
There are foods that are not suitable for vacuum storage. Some spices contain very strong ingredients that can attack and even damage the surface of the Cube containers (for instance nutmeg or cardamom). To avoid this, we recommend storing these foods without vacuum sealing, or alternatively, using Fresh & Save bags or glass containers.
VACUUM BAGS
In the event of tears or loose components, such as the closure no longer correctly sealing, please discontinue use. You can use the bags until you notice that they no longer correctly close or if they fail to maintain their vacuum seal. If the pump no longer stops automatically, this can be a sign that the bag has a hole or that it no longer correctly closes.
Vacuum bags can be reused after thoroughly washing with hot water and dishwashing liquid, and then completely drying. It is possible that, for example, strong flavoured marinades may leave behind traces of odour in a bag or that food may discolour it.
This depends on how the bags are used. When you see signs of wear and tear it is time to replace the bag.
Yes, the bags may be used in the microwave to heat their contents. However, the vacuum seal must first be released.
No, because the bags are temperature resistant only up to 65°C (149°F), the bags are only suitable for use in microwaves and for sous vide cooking.
No. This may damage the structural integrity of the bags.
Yes, the bags are suitable for liquids. The following is recommended: • For smaller amounts of liquid, such as marinades, use the liquid barrier when vacuum sealing. • When vacuum sealing, hang the bag over the edge of the table so that the liquid does not reach the valve area. • Lightly freeze the contents before vacuum sealing.
Generally, yes. However, it is possible that, for example, strong flavoured marinades may leave behind traces of odour.
Foods with intense colouring, such as beet or turmeric, may leave behind traces of colour on the plastic.
VACUUM WINE STOPPER
It is suitable for all beverages, juices, and even oils and vinegars. However, it is not suitable for carbonated liquids.
To clean the wine stopper, carefully peel off the silicone parts from the wine stopper body and clean all the individual parts with water and washing-up liquid.
The wine stopper fits all bottlenecks with a European standard (17-19mm inner diameter).
SOUS-VIDE
This type of preparation is ideal, especially for high-quality ingredients, almost like cooking at (star) restaurant level. Thanks to gentle sous-vide cooking (French for "under vacuum") in a water bath, meat and fish become buttery tender and vegetables remain al dente and fresh! Nothing overcooks or suffers from excessive temperatures, food is cooked through precisely controlled heating. This not only preserves the valuable nutrients, but also the aromas.
Meats such as poultry, pork, lamb or game are suitable for sous-vide cooking. In addition, fish, vegetables and fruit as well as eggs can be cooked. You can find more information in our Sous vide guide .
You can easily find the cooking times of the different foods in our Cooking table.
The sous vide stick enables precise temperature setting from 0 °C to 90 °C in 0.5 °C increments.
The sous vide stick has a plug with a cable length of 1.25 m.
