Sustainable supply chain
Sustainability doesn't just start with production. We set high social and environmental compliance standards for our supply chain and the procurement of our resources. This is the only way to ensure that those responsible along the entire supply chain work together sustainably.
The most important figures at a glance
At ZWILLING, we take a holistic approach to sustainability. Not just in product development and production but along the entire supply chain, starting with procurement. Our strategy is informed by ethical, social, and ecological standards. In an interdisciplinary supply chain team, we have reviewed the status quo and introduced a group-wide risk management system, enabling us to meet tomorrow's legal requirements today.
We have exceeded the minimum requirements set by the amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative (amfori BSCI) regulations and taken a proactive approach to risk management by enabling our locally-based employees to implement preventive and remedial measures on-site.
In doing so, we are not only fulfilling the requirements of the new German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) but also meeting our customers’ increasing demands. This is an important step on our way to integrating human rights policies and environmental aspects into our procurement processes even more comprehensively than before.
Acting sustainably from the start
ZWILLING sources raw materials, intermediate products, merchandise, and packaging from approximately 400 suppliers worldwide. In 2022, we procured goods and services worth about 600 million euros. Our relationship with suppliers is based on the Werhahn Code of Conduct and the social standards and governance rules of the amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative (amfori BSCI), in which we have participated since 2017.
In spring 2022, we implemented a human rights and environment-related risk management system. The goals:
- To promote greater transparency about risk hotspots and establish regular reporting.
- To prioritize and implement measures to minimize relevant risk areas.
We pursue a collaborative approach as we move forward together with our suppliers.
To sustainably improve social standards along our supply chain, we work with amfori BSCI. The organization has developed a code of conduct that considers various internationally recognized conventions and guidelines. With the help of this standard, we can measure social performance across the supply chain, identify problems, and take measures to remedy them.
To anchor environmental standards in our supply chain, we also joined the amfori Business Environmental Performance Initiative (amfori BEPI) in 2021.
