Take sharpening to the next levelKeeping your knives sharp is essential and having sharp knives makes cooking so much more enjoyable. Most sets come with a steel that is designed to realign the blade which brings it back to a point and gives you a sharp knife again. It doesn't take metal off of your knife. If your knives are a little older and the steel isn't working anymore, the diamond steel may be your answer. With the same technque (see video on website) the diamond steel can reshape your blade. It has flatter sides so it's much easier to maintain the correct angle, plus the diamond surface can remove some metal from your knife making it sharp again.

Take Honing to the Next LevelA honing steel will help you maintain the edge of your knife by realigning the blade. You should do this whenever the knife doesn't feel as sharp as you'd like it to be. However, eventually you won't be able to get your knives as sharp with the honing steel. The diamond steel takes honing to the next level because it's a much harder, rougher surface. Instead of just realigning the blade, you are actually taking metal off and making it much sharper. This 12" steel is a perfect length, handling sharpening any knife up to 10".

Great honing steelGreat and easy way to keep your knives sharp longer. With this honing steel, you can keep the edge on your knives for much longer, and you won’t have to worry about sharpening your knives as much. Perfect for any German stainless steel knife. Nice handle on the steel as well, provides an easy and secure comfort as you use the steel to hone your knives. Also since it’s a diamond shape steel, you can hone your knife with fewer strokes than a traditional round steel.

With normal use the straight edge on your knives will bend out of alignment. This is not a dulling of the edge but rather just microscopic bending of the sharp edge. Regular honing keeps your knives in alignment keeping them sharper and able to perform their best. Normal honing steels align your straight edged knives between sharpening but this diamond sharpening steel will actually keep your edges even better with less effort.

There is nothing better to express how great this diamond-coated steel.
This steel quickly to produce a very sharp edge on the knife with very few strokes only. The flat surface provides more contact to sharpen knife edge. This diamond-coated steel is better than any portable knife sharpener and honed its edge.

Must have toolRecently introduced to honing by a long time friend who is a professional chef. I was always complaining about my knives dulling and I learned that honing is the key to edge retention. The honing realigns the edge so that it no longer rolls over on itself which causes the dulling. The Diamond Sharpening Steel not only realigns the edge, but because of the Diamond Steel, some sharpening also occurs. This sharpening steel makes a huge difference, and I use it every time I work in the kitchen.

Very popular steel. The elliptical oval shape of this steel, plus the diamond coated surface make it an ever popular knife maintenance tool. The hardness of the diamonds and the flat side of the steel make for every efficient work. The fewer the strokes needed means you can get to prepping faster. I know folks who use this steel exclusively. I have grown to like it over the years. It takes a little getting used to - keeping the angle correct, but the diamond edge is awesome!

hones and sharpensDiamonds really are a girls and guys best friend. This honing steel is a great addition to your kitchen. Keep all your knives razor sharp and straight. The diamonds enable this steel to not only hone but also remove a small amount of steel from the knives edge to keep it sharp.
There is a really good video on the Zwilling website or YouTube for proper use of this steel.
Our sharpening steels use fine lines to hone your blade, but they do not have a grit rating. They do have an HRC or Rockwell number: most steels come in an HRC between 60 and 65, which is harder than a Western blade with an average HRC of 57.
